MARD wants Govt to pay tuition fees during COVID woes

Mumbai: Doctors Residents of Maharashtra have staged a protest in front of the Department of Health at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) demanding that the government stop funding PG medical studies.

Doctors have indicated that although they are pursuing various degrees after graduation, they must face significant academic losses as most of them remain busy working on COVID activities for the last one and a half years.

Citizens emphasized that the government should also recognize the risks involved and should provide assistance in cutting back on tuition fees for MS and MD courses of about 1 Lakh per year.

Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) secretary Dr. Abbasaheb Tidke told Medical Dialogues, "One and a half years ago, undergraduate students (MD / MS) and their directors were performing Covid-19 duties. We are not against this service but We are facing a serious loss of education. Several doctors studying for their PG studies have been denied access to relevant information on a variety of diseases as most of them have been busy with COVID as a result of the epidemic. "

The doctor went on to say, "While acknowledging that our COVID activities were important in curbing the epidemic, we are simply asking the government to provide us with assistance with starting tuition fees. MARD has already issued a memorandum to the head of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) Send a letter to the Minister of Medical Education, Amit Deshmukh yesterday and we will meet with him soon. "He informed that the tuition fees for various PG subjects for the first, second, and third years respectively are Rs 1.8 Lakh, Rs 98,000, and Rs 89,000.

Dr. Dnyaseshwar Jamkar of IMA Pune said, "The cost is very high and is about 1 Lakh a year. PG residents did not get the opportunity to have surgery with other citizens. For example, Medical Department doctors who were supposed to treat other diseases such as diabetes also did not get the opportunity to visit those patients like all of them have always been busy with COVID's activities. When PG medico loses such a loss of education and is denied the opportunity to handle cases in their fields, how can the authorities raise money on behalf of the government to pay tuition fees? The government should show compassion for these PG doctors and academics. "

He also informed that doctors from SRTR govt medical college for jojoba also did a demonstration in support of needs.
