Doctors on mass leave at Nagpur Medical college

Doctors on Strike: This is What ails Medical Services in the state; Hospitals Recording Major Short

The 230 resident doctors at Nagpur Community College in Maharashtra on Tuesday took a permanent leave to demand their release from COVID-19 at a time when the number of cases was dropping so that they could focus on graduation.

The protest did not disrupt emergency services and ICU services at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH).

President of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) at IGGMCH Dr. Rajat Agrawal told PTI that 230 doctors living there had decided to go on unpaid leave as the issues they had raised in the past had not been resolved.

"Doctors living at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and hospitals have been devoting themselves to treating patients during the outbreak of COVID 15 months ago," he said.

Dr Aggrawal said local doctors should be allowed to focus on postgraduate studies as the disease situation in the Nagpur region is under control.

He also demanded "complete provision of surgical complication and non-COVID function as a guarantee provided by the regional collector".

Dr Agrawal said doctors living there had written to the IGGMCH communications manager a memorandum of demand in the past but could not get a response from the hospital management or district officials.

"Faced with this situation where the medical staff living there are completely ignored by the relevant authorities, the doctors living at IGGMCH are left with no choice but to take our resources out of our jobs and take permanent relief leave from today," said Drs. Withdrawal.

Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) president at IGGMCH Dr Rajat Agrawal told PTI that 230 local doctors had decided to go on unresolved leave as the issues they had raised in the past had not been resolved.

"Doctors living at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and hospitals have been working hard to treat patients during the outbreak of COVID 15 months ago," he said.

Dr Agrawal said local doctors should be allowed to focus on postgraduate studies due to the epidemic in the current state of Nagpur.

He also demanded the `` complete supply of non-COVID non-COVID facilities as a guarantee provided by the regional collector ''.

Dr Agrawal said doctors living there had written to the IGGMCH communications manager a memorandum of demand in the past but could not get a response from the hospital management or district officials.

"Under conditions where medical personnel are completely ignored by the relevant authorities, doctors living in IGGMCH are left with no choice but to withdraw our services from our services and go on an unknown leave from today," said Dr Agrawal.
